Question: Why are all of the more recent christian self-help books full of eastern philosophy?

You are very correct on this. They are indeed trying to embed some of the stuff from Buddhism and Hinduism to cover up the not so clear sections in the Bible. Any how the History I know is that during the period from age 13 to 30 of Jesus which is not mentioned in the Bible, he had fled to India and learnt from the Brahmans there - that's what he came back to Israel and preached. If the Bible actually contained his teachings, may be we would have found a lot more similarities between all beliefs in the world.

Unfortunately you got people who don't understand the Bible trying to make it "fit " into the current culture. Also, people nowadays want the material comforts like the name it and claim it folks (Benny Hinn, Joyce Myers, Kenneth Copeland) are trying to promote . I think all the self-help I need is in the Bible.

Take a step back from yourself and consider the position you're in. Are you thinking that your situation is all happening to you because of who you are and that you're somehow responsible for the situation? If you go read a book that sounds like it describes the position you're in you'll find that you're going through a process. Your thoughts and your reactions are all normal, the way you think about things has been done millions of times before. The world happens to you and you respond in the same way anyone else would respond. Now think about your entire life. It's not your life, it's the life that's been lived before by countless generations. The only thing you've actually done is witness it. You aren't unique and somehow special. We're all working through the steps that have been walked many times before. Nothing happens to you that hasn't happen to someone else either now or in the past.
